The challenge
A hotel runs around the clock. Guests expect heating, hot water and power at every hour, which makes energy one of the largest and least flexible costs in the business.
Burntwood Court set out with three ambitions: cut its utility costs, keep heat consistent for guests, and build resilience against grid disruption.
The solution
Saber designed a blend of 163 kW of Solar PV and a 50 kW CHP engine, funded and operated under a single Power Purchase Agreement. The CHP engine supplies power and heat through the day and night, matching the hotel’s steady thermal demand, while Solar PV covers daytime load.
One contract and one point of accountability, with no capital outlay for the hotel.
The results
Solar PV and CHP have run together since March 2026. The blend meets around 76% of the hotel’s site demand from on-site generation, and Saber estimates the saving at about £950,000 over the term of the agreement.
