Healthcare & Public Sector

Continuous, mission-critical demand with island-mode resilience. Public-sector procurement and SECR reporting across single and multi-site estates.

Blended with thermal recovery

The challenge

Hospitals, care settings and public-sector estates run continuous, mission-critical demand where a loss of power is a safety issue, not an inconvenience. Budgets are constrained and procurement is governed, so capital projects are hard to fund. Reporting obligations such as SECR mean carbon performance has to be evidenced, not estimated, across single and multi-site estates.

How Saber addresses it

Saber designs a blended system with thermal recovery, sized to the site load and built for island-mode resilience so critical functions stay supplied if grid is lost. The PPA structure routes the project through an operating-expense line rather than a capital request, which fits public-sector procurement. Metered output gives defensible Scope 1 and 2 data for SECR reporting. The same model scales from a single site to a multi-site estate.

A day on site

What the blend does across a working day.

Site demand met by a blended, multi-technology design, with residual grid import at the shoulders. Every half-hour is metered, recorded and reported.

Illustrative annual energy mix, shown as a share of site demand. Every unit generated on site is supplied at the contracted PPA rate rather than the grid rate, so savings scale with the on-site share. BESS is a routing stage, not a source: battery discharge is generated earlier by Solar PV or Hydrogen-ready CHP. Round-trip efficiency assumed at 88%; the on-site share is stated net of those losses and the generation bars are gross. Island-mode operation ahead of grid energisation; once the DNO connection is live the plant transitions to a peaking and resilience role.
